Are you up on what PBS LiteracyLink is doing for adult ESL learners and
teachers?
With U.S. Department of Education funding, PBS LiteracyLink and partners
are busy
developing and pilot testing two Web-based English as a second language
(ESL) projects.
Launching in January 2003:
ESL/CivicsLink —
Interactive online staff development for teachers of adult ESL.
*will cover core issues in teaching ESL and civics
*encourages engagement through project-based online learning
*works for small group study with peer mentoring
*works with both facilitated and non-facilitated models
*provides teachers with collaboration tools

Interactive online instruction for intermediate-level adult English
language learners.
*flexible system allows self-paced learning
*interactive exercises for language skills practice
*content covers working in the US; continuing education
in the US; and US civics
*basic Internet tutorial written especially for English language
learners
*works with both teacher-facilitated and independent study models
