The funder sent an employee to this training: http://www.natsem.com/DRM10.cfm?ecode=1202760#Topofpage. Does this look like something that if I got the software and got familiar with it on my own, then went to the workshop in September, would I be totally lost? I am a pretty quick learner with anything computer related, but I don't want to waste anyone's money. I hate to be asking such picky questions, but I know that you never know until you ask! BTW, the tutor training I am talking about is in-service on such subject as the GED, best practices, etc. ******************** Cindi Riley Assistant Director Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry 1403 Prince St. Beaufort, SC 29902 phone 843-525-6658 fax 843-521-1945 lvl@hargray.com -----Original Message----- From: nifl-technology@nifl.gov [mailto:nifl-technology@nifl.gov]On Behalf Of Steve Quann Sent: Monday, July 15, 2002 3:01 PM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: [NIFL-TECHNOLOGY:2569] Re: Web design dream come true Cindi, I'd go with Dreamweaver but a word of caution. My experience, as well seeing how other teachers have tried to learn Dream Weaver, is that the Macromedia tutorials tend to lead one to learn layers, using templates, libraries etc. I think this could indeed add to the learning curve as Tommy says. Personally I'd put aside some of the more advanced tools and start using it by simply gettting used to it as an editor and then move to the fancy stuff. This is of course unless you think you feel comfortable with these aspects because of your previous experience with Publisher etc. Steve Quann New England Literacy Resource Center World Education 44 Farnsworth St. Boston, MA 02210 617.482.9485 617.482.9485 email: squann@worlded.org >>> tommy.mcdonell@nyu.edu 07/15 2:05 PM >>> Dreamweaver is a good product, but with a substantial learning curve, especially next to Publisher which though nice is low key. While I would go with straight HTML, this is easier for volunteers. Tommy Tommy B.
