Some general thoughts: Include a pull or distinct ESOL segment in the paper which might include english language articles with an accomapnying glossary of terms and vocabulary Have games such as crossword puzzles related to any english language articles published that day Include a "writing back" section that encourages new language learners to write pieces to the paper in English (this might be facilitated by making some connections to ESOL programs in your area) Provide copies of the paper to ESOL programs in the area the paper serves Use graphics and pictures to assist in comprehension of English Language text Include english language audio and video in an on-line publication to accompany text Have reccomended links to on-line ESOL resources that can assist in language learning A teachers column with exercises and activities readers can try on their own and which would be followed up in the next addition with an answer guide Provide information about local esol programs. Many non-profit organizations that provide esol services for free do not have the budget to advertise. Provide a resource section that includes ways to contact these programs without cost to te programs themselves. Sincerely, Mariann At 10:45 AM 09/20/2002 -0400, you wrote: >Let me clarify.
