Public Comment Period on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Open
Now through December 18

The 1998 DMCA imposed many restrictions on copying digital media. Proponents
argue that the DMCA protects artists, writers and programmers from having
their work copied illegally. Opponents counter that the DMCA has been used
in many unintended ways that restrict education, research and other
legitimate uses. The Federal Copyright Office is inviting the public to
submit their comments on the DMCA, which will be considered by the Copyright
Office in creating exemptions to the Act. You can read more about this issue
