Fran (and others), For *general* info on adult literacy, I try to keep up with Focus on Basics (FOB) and with as many of the NCSALL papers and reports that I can. I really like the summary reports NCSALL publishes, because they are short, and like most people, I don't have a huge amount of time to read stuff. <http://ncsall.gse.harvard.edu/fob/> <http://www.gse.harvard.edu/~ncsall/research/reports_summ.htm> <http://www.gse.harvard.edu/~ncsall/> BTW, it's a few years old now, but there is an issue of FOB devoted to tech issues: <http://ncsall.gse.harvard.edu/fob/2000/fobv4ic.htm> Since I've been helping with the process of putting the SABES journal Adventures in Assessment online, I've started to read that one as well. http://www.sabes.org/resources/adventures/ I realize that all of the above is published out of World Ed, which partly betrays my bias, I guess (since I work at World Ed) -- but it's also just a reflection of the fact that NCSALL, SABES and many other World Ed projects tend to be pretty committed to publishing and disseminating stuff for the field -- and also in putting those things on the Web. (I'm also not sure many people realize how much stuff World Ed puts up online every year, whatever funding situation we found ourselves in.) Which brings me to *tech* and Adult Ed, where lately I find a frustrating (and, to me, somewhat inexplicable) lack of articles, guides, or journals related specifically to adult literacy and technology, especially anything being *regularly* published -- at least I haven't seen much in the last year or two. Maybe I have missed some good things that others on this list know about. I'm sure I must have. I also subscribe to the NETEACH-L list Steve mentioned, although the traffic on that list has been pretty meager lately. For education and tech in general: HP*RTEC published a pretty good log (called "Edlines") of ed-tech related news. <http://edlines.hprtec.org/> And in fact, I guess I would add to this list keeping an eye on the occasional reports and guides coming out of the RTECs, which are sometimes pretty good and sometimes relevant for Adult Ed. Unfortunately, I don't know of a single place where you can check on new stuff being published across all the RTECs all at once -- in other words, I don't know of a clearinghouse, or even a what's new page, that covers all the RTECs' publications. Again, maybe someone else knows. http://rtec.org/ When I have time, I also look at these (this list comes straight from my bookmarks): Learning and Leading with Technology, published by ISTE. One feature article per issue is available online; for the rest you have to be an ISTE member. http://www.iste.org/LL From Now On: The Educational Technology Journal http://www.fno.org/ The T.H.E.
