It is the first ten lessons of a low-literacy curriculum designed to be simple to teach (for volunteers or non-techies), simple to learn (with short sentences and big graphics), and FREE for all (including multimedia presentation, handouts, student evaluation materials, and helpful skills software). ACTION is perfect for youth, adults with limited education or with learning disabilities, immigrants learning English, and seniors intimidated by technology. It is the perfect "Intro" class for clients that don't do well in your current intro class. ACTION "Train the Trainer" workshops have been presented at STRIVE Chicago, Inner City Muslim Action Network, LINC Ministries, and St Leonards Ministries. After their workshops, three of these organizations chose to begin ACTION classes immediately. This professional development workshop is sponsored by CTCNet Chicago and hosted by the creator of the ACTION curriculum - CAAELII (Coalition of African, Asian, Latino and European Immigrants of Illinois). The ACTION curriculum project is funded by Polk Brothers Foundation. Directions: CAAELII is located at 4300 N. Hermitage, Chicago IL. Take Irving Park Drive from I90, I94 or Lake Shore Drive. Follow Irving Park to Hermitage Avenue (1800 west). At Hermitage, go 3 blocks north. CAAELII is located in the Ravenswood Presbytarian Church on the corner of Hermitage and Cullom Avenues. The entrance is on Cullom. Hope to see a few of you there! (RSVP if interested so we can make enough snacks and gourmet coffee!)
