This very comprehensive online learning environment was designed with the low-level literacy learner in mind, although it also addresses the needs of some higher-level & workplace-based learners. AlphaRoute has been used primarily in Ontario but 3 sites outside Ontario (NWT, NFLD, & us in BC) are piloting its use in other parts of Canada. It has been developed largely with money from the National Literacy Secretariat. Don't hesitate to ask me if you have more questions. In the next six months, the extent to which adult literacy learners have access to learning through technology will be examined and the degree to which this is done will be analyzed. A study will be carried out to access the use of learning technologies in adult education throughout the province, an asset map of these technologies will be created and research into what is happening in the rest of the country will be carried out. The adult education community will be surveyed as to how well they are utilizing learning technologies, and how best they might be helped to continue, increase or enhance their use, resulting in an action plan for the optimal use of learning technologies in the delivery and support of adult literacy programming in Nova Scotia. I have been hired to carry out this project for Literacy Nova Scotia. I am delighted to have been chosen to work on a development with such far-reaching implications and am eager to get started. If you would have any documentation such as survey or questionnaires, information or insights which might help me in my research, I would much appreciate hearing from you.
