I am posting for the first time, and I though it would be a good opportunity for me to introduce my work since Mariann suggested us to raise resources for non-citizen community. I am a community organizer from Forest Hills Community House in Queens, New York City. My organization provides adult education program, and nearly 600 immigrant students come to take ESOL classes daily. As a part of my work, I developed a website that introduces the idea of non-citizen voting rights to our students. http://www.fhch.org/ncv The website is designed to teach English while students go through the online quiz to learn about non-citizen voting rights. The website consists of four sections; - quiz - pros & cons - discussions - links The whole website also features "instant dictionary" function. While you are surfing the site, you can click the underlined words, and the definitions will appear at the bottom of the page. It is probably faster if you can take a look at the website. Although I created this website for our students, it can be used anywhere in the world. Indeed, it helps to bring the discussion of non-citizen voting issue to your classrooms where most of students are subject of the issue. I think it is important to promote more online contents that target the disadvantaged population, especially those who are the victim of the digital divide. I would appreciate your feedback.
