In support of this year’s Long Beach Reads One Book
project we have brought
online an excerpt of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, read
by the author. The site is at:

http://cetl.edtech.csulb.edu/f451

In the site we have provided a phrasal parse of the text,
with phrasal
highlighting synchronized with the oral reading. The
voiceover audio is from Ray Bradbury’s reading of his work
.
Our focus is on providing a strong prosodic model and
phrasal cueing to
help readers parse the text and build meaning.

The project was developed collaboratively by the Center
for Educational
Technology and Learning, at California State University,
Long Beach;
USTeach of Santa Cruz, and the Long Beach Public Library
Foundation.

Please feel free to check out the site; we welcome your
comments.
