Hi all,
I have been following a discussion on NETteach listserve about
Podcasting and want to share the info with our group. To me this term
is a misnomer of sorts since I thought it had to do with Ipods. It is
often referred to as a way to do your own radio broadcast and so
intially I wasn't interested. But when someone mentioned there is a site
that is offering a free template that is as easy as doing a geocities
webpage I thought I would try it.
It is definitely worth a try. It is very easy to set up a page and end
up creating a series of audio pieces that load quickly (in Flash), so
you can create a series of entries. I think students with some help
could also create their own page and share them. The site is new and it
seems to be working out some kinks, but still worth looking in to.
(Note: The one tricky thing is creating an mp3 file. If you know how to
encode them, then it is really easy. Or you could just use music files
that you have. I would be happy to send you to a webpage that tells you
how to encode wav files to MP3s.)
Here's my humble attempt at one: http://steve.podblaze.com/
Here's a more substantial one: http://esl.podblaze.com/
Here's the sign up: http://podblaze.com/
Curious about others' experinces and what uses others can see for tech
integration.

NIFL-Technology Colleagues,
The Technology area of the ALE Wiki [ http://wiki.literacytent.org/
index.php/AleTechnology ] is growing by the week. I hope you will
visit and add to it.
If you are interested in adult literacy education (including ESOL)
distance learning, please visit -- and add to -- the list of
questions which practitioners have asked about distance learning at:
http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/AleTechnologyQuestions
Also, if you are aware of research which addresses any of these
questions, please add the citation or abstract to the wiki. If you
need some assistance with the technical part of doing that, I'll be
glad to help.
