Literacy Boosts Employability, Earnings Individuals with good literacy skills are more likely to work, work full time and earn more than those with lesser skills, a long-awaited analysis of National Adult Literacy Survey (NALS) data shows. The new report, Literacy in the Labor Force is the one of four remaining specialized reports based on the 1992 NALS to be released. More than 40 percent of those in the labor force posted literacy scores in the lowest two levels. Less than five percent of labor force participants had received any training in these basic skills.
