Dear helen,

I am thinking about the beatings and abuse of the young wife and how strange
it is. After all she brings willingness (at least initially) to the
marriage, and a capacity for work, yet she is told that is not enough. Does
she think that in some way she is to blame?

Thank you for your information and your insight.

Andrea
