You are invited to join a new NIFL list on the topics of
poverty, race, and literacy!

There has been a growing interest among literacy
practitioners in the
relationships among socioeconomic status, race, and
literacy levels, and
more specifically among poverty, racism, and literacy
levels. To facilitate
discussions among persons interested in the connections
between the effects
of intergenerational poverty, race and institutionalized
racism, and
literacy, a new NIFL discussion list has been established:
the
		 NIFL-POVRACELIT list.

The NIFL-POVRACELIT discussion list is designed for providers,
advocates, researchers, learners, policy makers, and all other persons
who are interested in exploring the linkages between poverty, race, and
literacy.

The list's moderators are Dale Lipschultz, Literacy Officer
in the Office
for Literacy and Outreach Services, American Library
Association,
Chicago, Illinois, and Mary Ann Corley, Director of the
National
Center for Literacy and Social Justice, New Orleans,
Louisiana.

To participate in NIFL-POVRACELIT go to the NIFL-POVRACELIT
