There has been a growing interest among literacy practitioners in the relationships among socioeconomic status, race, and literacy levels, and more specifically among poverty, racism, and literacy levels. To facilitate discussions among persons interested in the connections between the effects of intergenerational poverty, race and institutionalized racism, and literacy, a new NIFL discussion list has been established: the NIFL-POVRACELIT list. The NIFL-POVRACELIT discussion list is designed for providers, advocates, researchers, learners, policy makers, and all other persons who are interested in exploring the linkages between poverty, race, and literacy.
