The mission is to facilitate the empowerment of young women of color in a holistic manner that focuses on the physical, mental, emotional, creative, spiritual and community aspects of their lives. Some of the projects include the Herstory Autobiography Project, community action projects that focus on political issues and social justice, health related workshops, and sister circles where issues such as self-esteem, stress management and spirituality are addressed. NO! will be a feature length documentary which will expose the collective silence in the Black community when Black women and girls are raped or sexually assaulted by Black men and boys. It is currently in the editing/post-production phase and Aishah Shahidah Simmons is the producer, writer and director. She is an award-winning African American feminist lesbian independent filmaker, festival curator, activist and writer based in Philadelphia, PA. An incest and rape survivor, her internationally acclaimed short videos, "Silence... Broken" and "In My Father's House" explore the issues of race, gender, homophobia, rape, and misogyny.
