Seeks your help in recruiting talented young leaders and activists to participate in our International Reproductive Rights Fellowship. For the year 2000 programme, we are recruiting young reproductive health activists from the following countries: Ethiopia, Sudan, Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Mexico and the Philippines. The Fellowship is a six-week leadership-training program based in Washington, DC. The program is scheduled to begin August 28, 2001 and will conclude October 09, 2001. It includes workshops on activists skills in the areas of public policy, lobbying, fundraising, organizing, public speaking, press relations, and coalition building. In coalition building, fellows will participate in a program which provides an overview of U.S. -based NGO work and strategies: an introduction to the U.S. Congressional and Administrative processes and how Congress and U.S. agencies impact global reproductive health: a review of the World Bank and other multilateral development banks meetings with United Nations officials to understand its operations and mechanisms to promote reproductive health; and access to strategic media, polling and funding organizations who are active internationally. We are seeking individuals with leadership ability, a commitment to reproductive choice, and demonstrated skills that can serve them in promoting reproductive rights. Choice USA will arrange and pay for all travel, food, housing, and transportation expenses for applicants accepted into the programme. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Applicants must be age 18-30; 2. Applicants must have work or activists experience related to reproductive health, women's rights, or population (from a direct services or advocacy perspective) Applicants are required to submit the following information to be considered for participation: 1. A cover letter, which includes the applicant's name, address, telephone number (if available), language abilities, date of birth and job title (if applicable). Only individual applications please. No group applications will be accepted. 2. An application essay from the applicant that describes why the applicant is interested in the Reproductive Rights Fellowship, what he or she hopes to gain from this experience, and how he or she will use this knowledge in his or her country. 3. Two letters of reference from a teacher, employer, community activist or someone else who knows the applicant's ability (letter from references should include telephone, fax or email contact numbers for each reference). Applications are due to the United States by February 28, 2001. Applicants accepted for the programme will be notified by June 15, 2001.
