NPR today reported on new research indicating violence is the single
greatest health danger for pregnant women in the US now. It also said that
during pregnancy or the first year post partum a woman's chances of being
the victim of violence increase from 6% to 20%--a sizeable jump! I think
the report was a response to an article in the current issue of the New
England Medical Journal, but I may have that wrong.
