The Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education (SCALE) is a network of college students, learners, administrators, literacy practitioners and community partners. Our mission is to support campus-based literacy programs by providing resources, training, consultation, professional development and networking opportunities. We strive to increase program effectiveness, enhance student involvement and leadership, and to encourage the use of participatory approaches in
both tutoring and program management. SCALE advocates for literacy education as a tool for the transformation of individuals and society - as a vehicle for social justice. SCALE is part of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
