(3) Bannerman Fellowship Program Offers Sabbaticals to
Activists of Color
Deadline: December 1, 2001
The Bannerman Fellowship Program is designed to honor
outstanding activists of color by giving them an
opportunity for reflection and renewal. Each year, ten
Bannerman Fellows receive an award of $15,000 to take
sabbaticals of three months or more.
Bannerman Fellows may use their sabbaticals in whatever way
they think will best re-energize them for the work ahead.
Past fellows have used the time and resources to travel,
study, visit with other activists, read, relax, acquire new
skills, explore new interests, evaluate, and plan.
To qualify for a Bannerman Fellowship, an applicant must
be a person of color; have at least ten years experience as
a community activist; be committed to continuing to work
for social change; and be a resident of the United States
or its territories.
For complete application information, visit the Bannerman
Fellowship Program Web site.
