Gail,
Your idea is a good one. Does anyone have specific email contact information (names of specific people and addresses) on any of the following groups:
National Organization for Women, the MS Foundation, Catalyst, People for the American Way, the president of the Ford Foundation
Perhaps if a few of us take this task on, we can make some headway. Has anyone heard anything about this alert?
Daphne

Daphne, I'd suggest that you promptly forward this very alarming
information and an inquiry about what they, you, and members of this
listserv can do in protest to the National Organization for Women,
the MS Foundation, Catalyst, People for the American Way, the
president of the Ford Foundation, the National Coaltion for Literacy,
and any other group that concerns itself with the role of women
and/or issues of discrimination, justice, and equity in American
society. Gail

>BUSH ADMINISTRATION PLANS TO CLOSE ALL REGIONAL OFFICES OF THE WOMEN'S

>As part of our Agency Watch efforts, the National Partnership for
>Women & Families has learned that the Department of Labor's 2003

>The mission of the Women's Bureau remains - as it has through all
>Republican and Democratic administrations since 1920 - to promote

>increase their efficiency, and advance their opportunities for

>The ten Regional Offices play an invaluable role in ensuring that
>this mission is carried out effectively at the local level. These
>offices provide critical services, including educating women about
>their legal protections against workplace abuse, providing
>specialized information about training
>programs and workplace supports to help low-income and low-skilled
