This has circulated around some of the listservs, and if you haven't seen it, I think it is something that some of you may be interested in reading:
Eartha Johnson, adult learner, and full-time student coordinator, wrote a list of 10 New Years Resolutions for adult education/literacy programs in Illinois:
1. Listen to what the students have to say.
2. Get students to conferences.
3. Have students do fund raisers so they can go to these conferences.
4. Invite students to be on your boards.
5. Invite students to talk at tutor training.
6. Connect students with other students.
7. Hold a potluck for the students.
8. Find out what the students are good at.
9. Have students call other students.
10. Let students teach other students.
