The mysterious East? The seed problem now exists in the US, can't remember which corporations say you have to buy their seeds yearly--unfertile. Do you think outsider "helpers" have helped India or not? I guess the raj is a confounding variable. So embarrassing--suppose outsiders came to the US? On teaching--how well has Laubach done? I know we have Laubach people on this list. In Karachi I met teachers who had been trained by Maria Montessori, who was there during WW2. Wonderful educators. In Boston I was a "stranger," had permission to cross a picket line then had a group of angry teachers pound on my car. Better than a knife. It happens everywhere. OK, so you are head of the World Bank, or somesuch, what would you do? Or not? What kind of loans would you give? To whom? Grameen bank style?
