However, regardless of people's lifestyle choices, we have to start from the perspective that straight lifestyles are as normal as lesbian or gay lifestyles. I am not referring as normal in terms of numbers, but in terms of choice. If you assume this, you can include literature that reflects different lifestyles and conversations that reflect different choices, and treating them as normal dialogues, discussions, activities and exercises. If everyone is straight in your class, no big deal. They will be exposed to other choices and may inquire and learn from you or others. If there are gay, lesbian people in the class, the may feel that this is a safe space to talk about concerns or they may not. Ultimately your role as a teacher is to provide opportunities for students to learn. Learning not to judge other people's lifestyle choices is very important regardless of the composition of your class.
