March is International Women's Month and I thought that a classroom activity might be for students to learn about individuals who have confronted issues of particular concern to women.

Women's eNews is going to be honoring "21 Leaders for the 21st Century 2004," which is described as "an awe-inspiring, reader-nominated group, with each leader making news, often at great personal risk, by confronting issues of particular concern to women."

The leaders that were chosen are listed below. It might be a worthwhile activity for higher level students to look these individuals up on the Internet and read/write/report to the class about them, and for lower level students for teachers to do the Internet work and present the information either orally or in easy to read language for discussion/journal writing work.
