When I saw the posting come through I realized I had forgotten to mention the reason why I was posting it. Often as an educator and researcher, I need to look statistics on women's lives for various reasons: to understand what are the unique obstacles faced by women learners, to explore issues about women's lives with women learners, to respond to inquiries from other researchers unfamiliar with the populations served in ABE, for my own research projects, and so on. Though this may not appear to directly aid women's literacy per se, this information IS connected to women's literacies in helping us to understand who we serve and why. Labor statisitics, experiences of girls in school who become women in ABE, issues of income, health, and the myriad of other statisitcal informations collected by various agencies helps me to better serve the women learners with who I'm working through access to information that affects their lives. Not being able to access this information easily
  - especially from government agencies who may be the only funded resources for such information - limits my abilities to be an informed educator and researcher. And this is information that is probably if use to ther educators interested in women's lives and literacies as well.
