I am pleased and proud to announce that WE LEARN will be conducting annual women and literacy conferences. As many of you know, Georgia State University was hosting these conference for a few years, and because of various reasons was unable to host them in the last few years. Last year, WE LEARN had an extremely successful "(Net)Working Conference 2004 on Women, Literacy, Resources geared for students, teachers, administrators, researchers, writers, community activists*and anyone interested in women's issues and adult basic literacy" (go to http://www.litwomen.org/conferences/conf04.html for more information).
WE LEARN is planning on having its second women and literacy conference in March 2005.
I encourage all of us to be on the lookout for announcements about the March conference.
For those of you who would like to learn more about WE LEARN, I encourage you to go to: http://www.litwomen.org/welearn.html. WE LEARN stands for Women Expanding / Literacy Education Action Resource Network and it promotes women's literacy as a tool for education and transformation.
