Dear list members,

Hello! My name is Whitney McOwen and I'm a student at New York University. One of my classes this semester is called Literacy in Action, taught by Professor Paul Jurmo. Half of the class is spent doing field work at adult literacy sites and the other doing class work.
For an upcoming "issue brief" assignment for the class work portion of the class, I'm writing a paper on 'adult literacy services for women' and during my research I came in contact with Professor Daphne Greenberg. Among many wonderful suggestions for research resources, she recommended joining this listserv to call on your expertise as well!
For the brief I need to identify what has been done about adult literacy services for women so far (both nationally and in New York City), discuss what the results of these efforts have been, and form an opinion on how increased investment should be targeted.
If you have the time to respond and you have any suggestions of resources to explore, I would be very grateful. Resources about programs in New York City would be particularly useful at this point, but everything about adult literacy education for women is helpful.
I understand that the holidays are approaching and it's a busy time of year, so I thank you very much for your time!

Sincerely,

Whitney McOwen
