Hi,

I don't think the possible abuse issue mentioned whether or not the
person involved was an English language learner. If she were, or even
if she wasn't, Kate Singleton developed an adult ESL picture story on
the topic of abuse. If I suspected such a thing with a student in my
class, I would go through the picture story process without singling out
the person who might need it (or need it most). The URL for Kate's
picture stories and teaching notes is http://www.cal.org/caela/health/
The picture story on abuse is #4. Kate has been an adult ESL teacher for
years, but now she is a social worker with a special interest in
immigrant health issues. I like the extensive advice she has about how
to present the issue.
