I believe that you need to have an understanding of the development of
women's self concepts from the feminist perspective in order to fully
appreciate the impact of violence on women, how it becomes a reality, and
what conditions promote gaining freedom from oppression. Foundational book
include:
*In a Different Voice: Psychological Theory andWomen'sDevelopment by
Carol Gilligan
*Women's Ways of Knowing: The Development of Self, Voice, and Mind by
Belenky, Clinchy,
Goldberger and Tarule
For understanding the understanding how to help women receive and live the
life they deserve read:
*Getting Free: You Can End Abuse and Take Back Your Life by Ginny
Nicarthy: Seal Press ISBN 1-878067-92-3
Hope these help,
Hallie
