If a woman, whether in order to meet or move beyond the basic needs of survival has persevered and overcome the personal and systemic barriers to participation in a literacy program. And in the spirit of the words of Klare Allen, she has envisioned the kind of person she wants to be. How can we as educators, faced with issues of cuts in funding, accountability requirements, and work first programs, assist her with planning and help her have the confidence in her abilities to not aim for less than necessary for her success. Especially, if achieving that success means referring her to another learning program?

Thank You,

Don Becker
