Subject: katrina and literacy on the Wiki

All,

FYI, David Rosen and I have compiled a number of resources in the
ALE Wiki family literacy area, addressing connections to recent
discussion of race, class and adult learning and the devastation
following Katrina. http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/
AleFamilyLiteracyKatrina
The page includes excerpts from conversations on this and other
lists, as well as resources found through lists, in my poking and
prodding on line and through colleagues and friends.

I started thinking about this (in response to David’s gentle reminder
that the Family lit. area was a little under developed) in hopes of
making the connections between thought and action clearer and also as
a result of thinking about how communities of young and older
learners have been uprooted by the hurricanes in the gulf. It’s just
a beginning. Your input is welcome.

thanks

Janet Isserlis
