Janet,
I will pass on your thanks. You bring up a great issue of adult-learner generated books. I know that many adult learners enjoy reading books which include contributions from adult learners. Does anyone else have recommendations of adult learner generated books that adult learners may enjoy reading?

Daphne and all

Please thank the learner who contributed this. I re-read a
learner-generated book (from South Africa) last night - and while I'm not
interested in promoting sales, it is a great example of not so famous people
writing for an audience. While this is text deals with issues common to
married men and women, I think the theme of tension - between family
(however it's constructed) and learning will resonate for many.

The book is I Told Myself I am Going to Learn, by Elzabeth Ndaba, and is
available through Peppercorn Books and Press
(http://www.peppercornbooks.com)

> A learner in the Atlanta area shared with me a list that she has been
> compiling over the last few months. In her adult classroom there were books on
> famous African Americans, famous disabled Americans, and famous Asian
> Americans, but there were no books on famous Lesbians. Although she states
> that her skills are not high enough to write a book, or as she says it "even
> think about writing a book" she decided to start keeping a list for herself so
> that one day if she can get her GED and her writing "up there" she can write
> such a book. I asked her if she would like to share her list with all of us,
> and she said "oh no, I can't write yet for an audience, but maybe you can
> write it for me? And be sure not to write my name-I am not ready to be famous
