Adult Literacy and Technology Conference 2000
Call for Presentations
PBS LiteracyLink® invites you to submit a proposal for a presentation at
the 13th annual ALT conference! This year’s conference will be held at
American University in upper northwest Washington, DC, June 14-17, 2000.
The ALT conference promotes the appropriate and effective use of
technology by adult educators. Conference sessions include discussions
and demonstrations of best practices as well as hands-on experience with
new technology applications in adult basic education.
The ALT conference is for anyone involved in adult literacy. Participants
in past conferences have included adult education and literacy
practitioners; early childhood practitioners; volunteers; librarians;
policy-makers; corrections’ education personnel; vocational rehabilitation
professionals; university, community college and technical school faculty;
and program administrators. This year, we hope to see some new kinds of
community outreach participants as wellstaff from the Community Technology
Centers and public television stations are especially encouraged to join
us.
No matter what your role in adult literacy, we eagerly await your
presentation proposal. Although our theme is “Bridging the Digital
Divide,” your proposal does not have to address that topic. Any topic
involving adult literacy and technology is acceptable. For instance, you
might want to share how you have successfully used technology to help
adults achieve their learning goals in a welfare-to-work or ESL program,
found funding for technology, conducted assessment and evaluation with
technology, supported distance learning, or designed technology-based
instructional activities.
Conference Presenter Obligations
Presenters must:
Register for the conference and pay the registration fee to be included in
the program.
Cover all costs related to their transportation, room, and board.
Adhere to copyright laws.
