WORKPLACE NEWS BYTES
CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE. A study conducted by Carlson Marketing Group and
the Gallup organization found that seven in 10 respondents said their
organization has undergone a reorganization in the past five years. Of the
major organizational changes companies face, managers said that downsizing
had the most negative effect on employee morale.

ACTION LEARNING. Action learning as an increasingly popular approach to
producing innovative solutions for organizational problems and for
developing management talent. Action learning programs involve small
groups that meet regularly to take action on critical, real problems while
explicitly seeking learning from having taken that action. Usually, the
learning aspect is facilitated by a learning coach who is skilled in using
the collective experience of group members to create learning
opportunities. There are several ways you can design an action learning
program. Learn more at:

THE BUZZ: Digital Collaboration
The explosion of the Internet age has created an enormous opportunity for
collaboration with colleagues, suppliers, and customers in a digital
fashion. From email to videoconferencing, from virtual classrooms to shared
documents, from Webcast meetings to e-commerce and e-support, new tools are
being dropped into the workplace at an incredible pace. Yet, how do we
harness these technologies for workplace productivity? The Masie Center and
ASTD are joining hands to address the powerful opportunity and challenge of
Digital Collaboration. Elliott Masie will demonstrate the potential of
digital collaboration, while pointing to the need for leadership in your
organization to shape the future of this phenomena during his presentation
at Interactive Multimedia 2000 on Wednesday, February 23, from 3:30 to 5:00
p.m. Interactive Multimedia 2000 is being held at the Hyatt Orlando in
Kissimmee, Florida.
