After 10 years of training delivery I can say I do not know of a single client company that is using training on line. Low computer literacy is part of the explanation. Many of our computer skills trainees are transitioning from a pre-Windows platform and are unfamiliar with even the mouse. Additionally, most of the workers we train have no access to a computer on a regular basis, and the set-aside computer for after hours use is a rarity. While I don't dispute the emergence of on-line training at some point, it appears to be in the embryonic stage among our clients. >>> "H. A. C. "Given that roughly 85% of manufacturers now use the Internet for business purposes, we anticipate a dramatic increase in the number of companies delivering training on-line." Source: Jerry Jasinowski, NAM President, Quoted in a General Physics press release about the "Virtual University," dated June 7, 1999 Would you agree? How many of you are working with employers who are offering training on-line. Are they offering basic skills training as well as on the job training?
