Thirty-seven ABLE educators have been selected as PA WIN Affiliates to provide high quality, customized foundation skills training services. The Pennsylvania Workforce Improvement Network (PA WIN) offers affiliation for ABLE Funded Organizations interested in enhancing their ability to provide direct customized foundation skills training to incumbent workers. We conduct recruitment training sessions at the beginning of the fiscal year to explain the benefits of affiliation. A brochure has been developed describing the benefits to adult basic and literacy education providers. The Pennsylvania Department of Education also does an excellent job encouraging ABLE providers to affiliate. 8. What kinds of support does WIN provide to the basic skills providers? PA WIN offers: … Funding - "Seed" funding to encourage self-sustaining fee-for-service programs through mini-grants for contracts with employers and incentives for obtaining fee-for-service contracts. … Network of Expertise - A system to communicate best practices and problem solving that encourage continuous quality improvement. … Marketing - Information resources to communicate the ABLE providers' service message to employers and community stakeholders in workplace education. … Program Development - To support a system for program expansion, design, and quality improvement that links providers with employers. … Training & Technical Assistance - To identify and respond to professional development needs regarding foundation skills instruction in the workplace. … Research -To provide current trends, data, and information in workplace education. … Links -To improve connections with local Team PA CareerLink and other workplace education initiatives
