Educational Testing Service, the world's largest non-profit private
educational testing and measurement organization and a leader in educational
research, needs your help in piloting a revolutionary new literacy
assessment. ETS Literacy Services is in need of ABE and Literacy Programs
that would be willing to administer our assessment to your participants and
provide the results back to us so that we can calibrate the items and
finalize the instrument. This is a computer administered and self-scoring
assessment that will provide literacy information on the same three scales
that the National Adult Literacy Survey measured: Prose, Document, and
Quantitative.

Program sites that are interested in participating in this study should
contact Tony Ostrander, Operations Manager for ETS Literacy Services at
609-734-1445 between 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. EDST. Sites participating in
the study will receive free copies of the final software product to conduct
the assessments, 2 free assessments for every one completed assessment they
turn in for the study, plus a US$200 honorarium payment either to the
program or to the site administrator. Minimum hardware and software
requirements for participating in the study are:

			1.	PC's must be running Windows 95, 98, or NT
with a minimum of 16 MB of RAM
			2.	17" monitor preferred (although a 15"
monitor will work) capable of color at 256 and screen resolution of 1024x768
			3.	Sound Card with headphones (preferred) or
speakers
			4.	CD-ROM Drive
			5.	Internet connection or a floppy disk drive
to accommodate a 3.5" floppy disk

Thank you.
