Marsha:

I pray this doesn't come across as too much of a commercial intrusion, but
you may want to take a look at our video/print series...Crossroads Cafe.
It's a 26-part television series with supporting print materials for
low-beginning thru high-intermediate. The series was funded in part by the
Departments of Education for the states of CA, FL, IL and NY. Other project
partners included the US Department of Education and the US Department of
Justice, Immigration and Naturalization. The series was produced jointly by
INTELECOM (a non-profit corporation) and Heinle & Heinle Publishers/Thomson
Learning.

Several things about this series in the context of workplace...(a) the
series revolves around a cast of recurring characters who work in a typical
service industry setting, a restaurant; (b) the characters reflect the
diversity found in the workplace; (c) many of the episodes lend themselves
readily to workplace themes (e.g., episode 6.."Time is Money"); and (d) the
series has been correlated to the Department of Labor SCANS competencies.

It's not a V-ESL product, per se. However, the series makes a fine "jumping
off" point for any V-ESL program. If you would like to receive a free
preview kit, let us know and we'll get it out to you right away.

Respectfully,

Cameron Cox
Director, Sales and Marketing
INTELECOM

I'm looking for a good ESOL workplace series. We have a full range of
classes from literacy to advanced. We are currently using the series English
ASAP but the higher level students are not finding it challenging enough.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Marsha
