Cross-posted from the NIFL-Technology list:

In earlier messages here I have called attention to The Office, a free,
Web-based basic skills simulation for adult learners based on SCANS
competencies. (www.workingsimulations.com/theOffice.html).

The author of The Office, Mike Hillinger, has recently published an
article about its development, "Thinking outside the browser:
experiencing new approaches to web-based training" in the online journal
Reading Online http://www.readingonline.org/ .

If you are interested in state-of-the-art, Web-based instruction
simulations for adult learners you may find the article of interest.
