Hello! After 2 years of planning, the SIBL Project -
Songs Inspired by Literature - is releasing the first
benefit CD to raise awareness and funds for literacy.
It features cuts by Bruce Springsteen and Suzanne Vega
to name a few. These songs inspired by books will build
a bridge between readers and non-reader through the universal
language of music. The CD is a calling-card to wake up the media
and alert the public to the magnificent work that all of you are doing
to help build a more literate America.

As a nonprofit funded in part by the State Library of California,
The SIBL Project is committed to augmenting your outreach and fundraising
efforts
by creating innovative tools for you to use.
These CDs have 16 tracks and promote 16 books.
We sell them in packs of 16 - with a free carrying box
that serves as a point-of purchase stand.
Each CD is priced at $5 for you - then you sell them for
$15 and make $10 pure profit / CD.

WE have set up a web page just for you - you can
learn about ways to use this CD - and you can download
an order form.

Your tutors and learner all have connections
through their jobs and communities. They are you
ambassadors for literacy. Like the Girl Scout cookie campaign -
they can hit the streets for you and get the country talking about
books and literacy and the magic of reading. They can raise
a great deal of money too. And most importantly, they
will show those who have yet to walk into a literacy program
that there is hope - that there is free help that they
probably did not even know existed.

We hope to work with all of you over the next few months.
Please don't hesitate to call me directly at
415.553.3330. I look forward helping you
in your efforts to increase growth and traffic in your literacy programs
by connecting to the public in a way that was not possible before.

with heart and song -
