A new subscriber requested a summary of the ongoing discussions on
this list. The easiest way to review postings to this list is to go
to the National LINCS home page at
http://www.nifl.gov/lincs/index.html.

From there, click on Discussions. On the Discussion page, scroll down
and click on Workplace Literacy List. You may then choose to review
summarized discussions or peruse the postings for any of the listed
years.

I have managed this list since it started in 1995. Although, over the
years, some subscribers have indicated that they would like to have
sustained discussions on the list, they also have said that they,
personally, don't have the time to participate. This is
understandable - but it also makes discussion rather difficult!

As a result, the nifl-workplace list functions more as a central
source of information regarding workplace literacy rather than a
source of ongoing discussion of issues. We post information as we
locate it. And, subscribers often pose questions and receive
responses from other members. For more sustained - but also more
diverse - discussion, you might want to subscribe to (or review
postings from) the National Literacy Advocacy (NLA) list.

Having said this, I encourage subscribers to post their perceptions
about the list - and I welcome suggestions for improvements,
additions, subtractions, etc.

Barb
