Duties include: serves as a liaison with field and community, attending meetings as appropriate, representing interests of the Director and program; prepare PowerPoint presentations for various group presentations; interact with various university programs and departments on behalf of WIN and the Director; market WIN activities at the VAELN and WIN list serves; and, attend conferences as WIN representative. In addition, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination of activities for the English Literacy/Civics Grant Project. This includes coordinating research, instructor training, and in-class projects using ESoL Main Street and Main Street Virginia; researching, writing, and developing web pages for the two websites and a quarterly newsletter; serve as a liaison with field, community, attending meetings, and conducting presentations on grant activities; coordinate communications and activities between JMU AE/HRD program, community partners, ESL providers and teachers, and the Virginia Department of Education; supervise the activities of a full time assistant, negotiate equipment purchases; direct the activities of the media and print vendors; and, ensure budget compliance. General skills required for this position include: researching, writing, editing, interview, working with many people on different aspects of the projects (students, supervisors, teachers, tutors, community partners), and juggling priorities/time management.
