I attended a GED training session here in California about 10 days ago and there was no mention of this, or any change in the planned release date for the revision in 2012. The California GED conference is scheduled for Oct. 29th & 30th. I'll see what information is presented there.

Hi Kathy and everyone,
I will definitely keep tabs on this item and forward any further information to the List.
Incidentally, I received a query regarding the Adult Education Institute below from a subscriber who noted that the location is not named – this Institute is being sponsored by the Technical College System of Georgia and is scheduled for October 26-30 at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta.

This is the first I have heard of any changes with the release date. (The reason I am part of the group and often simply follow the discussions.) If there is any other news, please let us know?

Hi everyone,
I just received this email that I thought might be of interest to some of you. Does anyone have any initial reactions to the revised GED Testing Program? Perhaps if anyone sends inquiries to the panel, or attends the Institute described below, we could follow that up with a discussion here.
Thanks!

Attached is correspondence from the GEDR Testing Service about the continuance of the 2002 Series GED Tests. In short, the GED Tests - 5th edition will not be released in 2012. GEDTS in collaboration with the jurisdictions, is revamping the GEDR Testing Program that will reflect more rigorous national content standards. The revised GED Testing Program is now referenced as GED 20/20. An actual release date for the new tests is not yet identified; however, some modifications might be realized as early as 2010.
Vice president Nicole Chestang and deputy director Marty Kehe (ACE-GEDTS) will be presenting on this topic during our Fall Adult Education Institute on Thursday, October 28, 2009, 9 - 11 a.m. Dr. Shirley Pippins, senior vice president of the American Council on Education (ACE) will also provide an update on AC E's revised vision for GED Testing during her remarks at the GED Awards Luncheon on Thursday, October 28th, 11:30 a.m.
If you have specific questions that you would like the presenters to consider, please electronically submit your inquiries to Victoria Porter
(vporter at tcsg.edu) by noon on Wednesday, October 14, 2009.
