Katherine-

I use the following websites to teach adult learners,
but these sites could also be good for elementary
school students.

www.a4esl.org (especially the Vocabulary with
Pictures items)

The Internet Picture Dictionary
http://www.pdictionary.com/

Pumarosa.com is a bilingual Spanish/English website
created by NIFL list member Paul Rogers. Can any of
your students read and/or speak Spanish? It is of
course geared toward Spanish speakers and readers, but
I have been able to use its alphabet page with
students from other backgrounds.

A site which is geared toward young children is Tiger
Aki Storybooks.

The storybooks and games use sound and speech to good
effect. FYI- the accent and vocabulary is British
English.

Below is a link to a list of English websites with
sound:

Colorful Clothesline level 1 ESL activity:

Another NIFL listserv member recommended this
quiz-making site to me:
http://www.readingmatrix.com/quizmaker/index.php

The service is free for a certain amount of time but
requires a yearly fee to maintain an active account
unless the teacher visits the site every few weeks.

Other sites requiring a yearly fee for some of their
services:

http://eleaston.com/quizzes.html

http://edhelper.com/

I hope these websites will be useful for you.
