Dear list participants,

I want to add my welcome to the moderated electronic discussion list for
practitioners, administrators, researchers, and others who work with
adults learning English. Although the name has changed--"English
language learners," instead of NIFL-ESL--the purpose of the list remains
the same as it has been for the ten years of its existence. That purpose
of this list is to provide a forum for the field to discuss
instructional practices, program design, research, and policy for those
who work with adult English language learners.

In the new year, we plan on asking guest speakers to respond to listers'
comments and questions on issues in the field (based on your input and a
search of the list archives), providing information on promising
instructional strategies for adult ESL, and organizing a short-term
discussion related to an adult ESL-specific research document.

Please feel free to contact me off-list (lterrill at cal.org) if you have
questions, concerns, or suggestions about the list.

Best wishes,

Lynda Terrill
