Hello everyone: The next issue of the CAELA Currents, the quarterly newsletter of the Center for Adult English Language Acquisition (CAELA), is now available on line at http://www.cal.org/caela/esl_resources/ccaug06.html <http://www.cal.org/caela/esl_resources/ccaug06.html> The complete list of articles is as follows: New on the CAELA Web Site New Report from the Pew Hispanic Centers New Resources in the Field Focus on Web Links: REEPworld CAELA Resources CAELA Resource Database The CAELA Guide for Adult ESL Trainers Of special interest to those who participated in this list's recent discussion of literacy-level learners might be the article highlighting two new resources on the CAELA Web site: A resource collection on Reading and Adult English Language Learners, and the Ask CAELA topic discussion that addresses the question: Who are literacy level learners? Also of interest to those who work with literacy and beginning level students might be the article on REEPworld, the www.reepworld.org. This Web site is being developed by teachers, learners, and administrators at the Arlington Education and Employment Program (REEP) for adult English language learners and teachers in Arlington County, Virginia.Because of its clear and simple directions, level-appropriate activities, and high-interest topics (so far, family and health), this site is useful to a wide audience of beginning-level learners and their teachers. I hope the newsletter can provide information of interest and perhaps resources for busy teachers to use in the adult ESL classroom. Thanks.
