I totally agree with Elsa's comments. Another UK research document worth a look is the Research Report A Systematic Review of the Research. Literature on the Use of Phonics in the. Teaching of Reading and Spelling by Prof Greg Brooks at all for the Department of Education and Skills www.dfes.gov.uk/research/data/uploadfiles/RR711_.pdf which exposes the weaknesses in all the research used to assert the superiority of one method for teaching reading. Also I would point out that research on dyslexia - which encompasses a range of specific reading difficulties - advocates multi-sensory approaches. As regards the comment on NSCALL papers - perhaps the filtering process needs to include criteria to ensure that any research on the website is based on robust evidence. _________________________________________________________________ Be the first to hear what's new at MSN - sign up to our free newsletters! http://www.msn.co.uk/newsletters
