[EnglishLanguage 805] Re: recommendations for teaching basic Spanish tosupervisorsCraig Alinder info at gaming-pc.netFri Oct 27 12:46:38 EDT 2006
The best softare out there for learning spanish fast is called Rosetta Stone. It is the software many government agencies and corporate executives use. They have separate versions for "Latin American" or "Spanish from Spain" as they differ significantly. Since you are most likely dealing with spanish speakers from Latin America that would be the one to use. Here is a link: http://www.rosettastone.com/en/individuals/languages/spanish-latin-america The only problem with this software is it is quite expensive, but it's methodology is sound. It teaches without translation through image recognition and sounds. In my experiences in New Mexico, this is the fastest way to pick up spanish on a practical level. Using books can take months, while interactive software can teach in a matter of days. Perhaps if the software is used in a group setting, the cost will not be prohibitive. An alternative, that is not as good, but better than nothing is called Visual Link Spanish. They offer part of their introductory course on a free CD-ROM. This might be a better choice if the cost of Rosetta Stone is too great: http://www.learn4good.com/languages/spanish_lessons/more_spanish.htm I hope this helps. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Craig Alinder Escuela del Sol Montessori 1114 Seventh St. NW Albuquerque, NM 87110 http://www.refinancequiz.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kaizen Program" <kaizen at literacyworks.org> To: "The Adult English Language Learners Discussion List" <englishlanguage at nifl.gov> Sent: Friday, October 27, 2006 8:20 AM Subject: [EnglishLanguage 803] recommendations for teaching basic Spanish tosupervisors > Hello colleagues, > > Can anyone recommend any texts for teaching basic Spanish to English > speaking supervisory staff in hotels and restaurants, etc.?
