I like to keep it simple. Some dishes may go bad if they are left out on
a table for an hour or more, especially if they contain seafood or
mayonnaise. If your students are going to bring perishables, it is
important to have somewhere to refrigerate them or to serve them as soon
as they arrive. Always warn students to keep this in mind when planning
your potluck.

Another idea is to have each contributor post the recipe and a short
description on the table in front of each dish and maybe to say a few
words about it before starting the feast.
