I teach at two community colleges and nearly all of the levels have end of quarter potlucks on the last day/evening of classes. I'm always amazed and delighted by the variety of wonderful food the students bring and share. It's great to see the students experiment with food from other cultures, no matter how different it is in appearance or taste. Students linger in the classroom after the feeding frenzy and talk about all matter of things, enjoying the friendships forged during the quarter. They are also encouraged to bring family to the party, which is a lot of fun. We get to meet children, spouses and significant others we've heard about during the quarter. Food is a great socializer!

Ginger,

Though our party was for international day it may also be appropriate for
your party. I provided my students with plastic tablecloths that were the
colors of their country's flags. The students made their flags, then hung
them at the booth each group had to represent their country of origin. They
also brought items from their countries for the booths. Students visited
each of the booths and the hosts or hostesses of the booths explained the
items and the customs relating to some of the items.
Students also taught their dances to each other.

It was a fun time for all of us. Cleaning up after the party was another
matter.

In your case, perhaps the students themselves can introduce the different
games played in their homelands.
