Colleagues,
I wanted to share a resource created by ESL students in the Charlottesville City Schools Adult Learning Center (website: www.charlottesville-esl.org):
The Multi-Cultural Brief is a student newsletter created as part of a newspaper class; it's purpose is to provide students with an opportunity to share their experiences of being from another country, to offer multi-cultural perspectives on life in Charlottesville and the U.S., to help inform people who are new to the area of issues and opportunities, and to build a bridge of communication between the ESL population and Americans.

Archived and current issues of the Multi-Cultural Brief are available on our website. In addition, we now have a searchable topic index. Click on an article title in the index, and the link will take you directly to that article. While some articles are specific to the Charlottesville, VA area, many of the articles are relevant regardless of where you live. They make for great classroom reading and discussion.

As examples of how we use the articles in our classes (for conversation, reading, and writing), we also have Study Guides for some articles available on the website.

We hope you will find these as enjoyable, interesting, and useful as we have.

The website is: www.charlottesville-esl.org
